Move for Your Mind

Amy-Jo’s 7 Cities in 7 Days

From Newcastle to London, across 7 cities in 7 days, our ambassador Amy-Jo Simpson completed an extraordinary running and cycling challenge to raise awareness. But this challenge became so much more than the 400 miles covered.

Throughout the week, our volunteers travelled alongside Amy-Jo, setting up community Help Hubs across the country, creating safe, welcoming spaces where people could stop, talk, access support and feel less alone.

We met incredible people.
We heard powerful stories.
We witnessed firsthand the importance of community, connection and conversation.
This challenge took place in the lead-up to Mental Health Awareness Week, with this year’s theme centred around community and action, something Amy-Jo’s journey embodied every single day.

Amy-Jo’s Story

Exercise has carried me through some of the toughest moments of my life, crippling health anxiety, panic attacks that stopped me in my tracks and the heartbreak of losing my dad. When my mind felt loud and overwhelming, moving my body was the one thing that gave me clarity, calm and control again.

That’s why I took on this huge challenge! Running and cycling across the UK to raise awareness for mental health and support Trauma Research UK, a charity incredibly close to my heart. Physical activity has changed my life, it’s rebuilt my confidence, my resilience and my belief that no matter how heavy life feels, you can always take one step forward.

If my journey can encourage and inspire even one person, then every mile was worth it. Let’s do this together.

Thank You
